Life Story:

4034298 Private Geoffrey Victor ‘Mutt’ Cole was born on June 28, 1919.

He enlisted into The Durham Light Infantry on 15th September 1939 and did his parachute course No.22 at Ramat David, Palestine, from 11 until 20 February 1943.

Mutt transferred in the summer of 1944 from the 11th Parachute Battalion towards the 21st Independent Parachute Company and served as No. 1 on the Bren Gun at Headquarters Company, 21st Independent Parachute Company at Arnhem.

After nine days of fighting, Mutt returned across the Rhine.

He died on February 13, 1991, aged 71.
