Life Story:

Jim Duplock enlisted in the Parachute Regiment in 1943. After completing his parachute course No. 45 at Ramat David in Palestine from 01 until 12 June 1943, he was assigned to No. 1 Platoon of A Company, 11th Parachute Battalion.

On September 18, 1944, Jim landed at drop zone ‘Y’ (Ginkel Heath), slightly east of the village of Ede in the Netherlands. He participated in the fighting around St. Elizabeth Hospital and in the Lombok district of Arnhem.

During the retreat to Oosterbeek, Jim was taken prisoner of war. He spent the rest of the war in several prisoner-of-war camps and was assigned prisoner-of-war number 90038. In addition to the POW camp Stalag XIB, he was also held in Stalag XIIA.
