On the 29th August 1943 262635 Lieutenant Anthony Lambert Tennant Hoyle was emergency commissioned into the Royal Armoured Corps.

On 1st April 1944 he transferred to the Parachute Regiment - Army Air Corps, after successfully completing Parachute course 113.

He was Officer Commanding, 5 Platoon, B Company, 11th Parachute Battalion during Operation Market Garden, being discharged in April, 1945.
