Life Story: 810316 Company Sergeant Leonard ‘Len’ Burrow was on parachute course No. 47 at Kabrit in Egypt. This course started on June 10, 1943, and the course report states that Len injured his ankle on the 7th descent. He undoubtedly must have retaken his parachute course, because during the Battle of Arnhem he is listed as a Company Sergeant in Headquarters Company of the 11th Parachute Battalion.

After nine days of severe fighting in Arnhem and Oosterbeek, Len was one of the lucky ones who was able to return across the Rhine.
