We don't currently have confirmed personal information for 6293895 Corporal Timothy F. ‘Ted’ Carter but we do know he was taken prisoner of war during the Battle of Arnhem. According to his German WWII, Record Card of British and Allied Prisoners of War, 1939-1945 he was born on 19th October 1918.

We have been unable to locate any matching birth records. However, a possible 1939 entry lists a Timothy F. Carter with the date of birth of 19th October 1917. He was living at 8 Portland Street Chislehurst and Sidcup Kent. He’s listed as a Builder’s Labourer, Heavy Worker. The other occupants are the KNOTT family.

He successfully completed parachute course No. 64 at Ramat David in Palestine from 04 until 16 September 1943 and was deployed to Arnhem in September 1944.

During the nine days' Battle of Arnhem he was taken prisoner of war and first send to prisoner of war camp Stalag XIB near Fallinbostel, Germany.

There he registered and was given his prisoner of war number 075514. From Fallingbostel he was sent to the next camp Stalag VIIIC at Sagan (now Poland).

In February 1945 he had to move again and went of the so called Death March.

In April 1945 he was liberated at Stalag IVB in Bad Orb, Germany, by the Americans.

A possible marriage was in early 1947 in Bromley, Kent to Murial G WALTERS. However, this is still unconfirmed.
