167910 Major Laurence Atkinson was born on 6 August 1915 and got an emergency commission on January 17, 1941, in the Pioneer Corps.
On October 19, 1943 he transferred to the Parachute Regiment.
Laurence was on parachute course no. 55 from July 20 until August 1, 1943, at Ramat David, Palestine. He served as Motor Transport Officer in HQ Company, 11th Parachute Battalion at Arnhem and was taken prisoner of war.
He was taken to Oflag IX-A/4 in Spangenberg, Germany and liberated in April 1945.
On June 13, 1946 Laurence transferred to the Royal Army Pay Corps.
He died on 15 June 1979 at the age of 63.
