2655975 Corporal Albert Harold Percy Chandler was born on 9th August 1912 in Tendring, Essex, the
son of Charles Thomas Chandler and Rosina Dine Chandler (née Kippin). Charles's occupation was Painter. On
6th October 1912 he was baptised at Walton-Le-Soken, All Saints, Essex
In 1933 Albert enlisted as a Guardsman in The Coldstream Guards and in 1940 was awarded the Palestine Clasp.
He later joined the 11th Parachute Battalion and fought at the Battle of Arnhem during Operation
Market Garden in September 1944.
In the Autumn of 1944, shortly after returning from Arnhem, Albert married Dorothy J. Woolmer in Blaby,
Leicestershire.
On 9th February 1949 Albert was awarded his war medals. At this time he was living at "The White Bear
Inn", Towcester, Northamptonshire.
In the Autumn of 1981 Albert died in Merton, Surrey.
