Born: 21 Jun 1914

6977137 Private James Bates served with the 11th Parachute Battalion and fought at the Battle of Arnhem during Operation Market Garden in September 1944.

He was discharged from the army on 23/11/45. At the time of being awarded his medals on 7th December 1948 he was living at 29, Barnes End, New Malden, Surrey.
