Life Story: 4392691 Sergeant Arnold Ashworth was born on 23 October 1917 and was the son of Arthur and Nellie Ashworth, of Leeds, Yorkshire.
He underwent his parachute course no. 47 from 10 -22 June 1943 at Ramat David in Palestine.
When landing by parachute on the September 18th, 1944, Arnold got trapped in his parachute lines. Whilst trying to free himself he was hit by a grenade shell and died at the age of 26 on drop zone ‘Y’, the Ginkel Heath.
His first burial was at the Temporary Military Cemetery next to Ginkel Heath.
Arnold now lies in Plot 5 Row B Grave 15 at the Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery
