14647461 Corporal Joseph Henry Alderson was born on 20th September 1924 in Pocklington, East Riding of Yorkshire. His parents were Charles Alderson and Mary Alderson (née Dorsey).

Joseph fought at the Battle of Arnhem and, on 26th September was wounded, whilst serving with the 11th Parachute Battalion. If you are a relative or have any information about Corporal Alderson, please contact us.

After returning to England after the battle he was posted to 3rd Parachute Battalion.

After the war, Joseph initially settled in West Yorkshire and in May 1945 was living at 59 Broomhill Avenue, Keighley, West Yorkshire. This is probably where he met his future wife, Edith Mabel Turton, whom he married in early 1948. Joseph and Edith married in Worth Valley, West Riding of Yorkshire. A

After marrying, the couple settled in East Yorkshire. At the time of being awarded his medals in December 1948, Joseph gave his home address as 22 Pavement, Pocklington, East Yorkshire.

Joseph died in Keighley on 15th April 1979 in Keighley.
